In any game or sport that brings in some revenue to an individual, the government is seen as the regulatory intermediate and it benefits by taxing the business. If any business is carried on by an individual without the knowledge of the government, it is deemed illegal because the government isn’t able to tax or benefit. This is exactly what has been happening in Australia.

PokerStars, the largest online casino, has been running a variety of poker games online freely.
